Ying-He Liu received a B.A. in Fine Arts from Stony Brook University, SUNY in 1983 where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She pursued postgraduate study under the tutelage of James McMullen in illustration at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. Prior to her arrival in the US, she was an English major at Anhui Normal University in China and had the rare privilege of studying privately with two great Chinese masters, Ha Ding and Yan Wen liang, the President of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in China. She has also attended a workshop by preeminent American master Everett Raymond Kinstler.

The artist was employed as an illustrator by a leading advertising agency Backer Spielvogel Bates in New York City from 1986 through 1989. Since 1990, Ms. Liu has devoted most of her career to portraiture. The artist has traveled extensively in Europe studying Old Masters' works in museums and galleries. Her exceptional talent and versatility have been greatly sought after in US and abroad. She has successfully completed over three hundred commissions which have received constant rave reviews. Her subjects encompass extraordinary leaders in academics, philanthropy, medicine, finance, government, religion, and the arts, as well as family members of distinguished domestic and international clientele. He subjects include a U.S. Cabinet member, Congressional Leaders, Supreme Court Justice and Appeal Court judges, Presidents and Chairman of Boards of major universities and corporations. Her works can be found in many prestigious collections of the U.S. Ms. Liu has participated in exhibitions at the Cork Gallery in Lincoln Center, Portraits, Inc., the Salmagundi Club and Arader Galleries in New York City, Francesca Anderson Fine Arts, and many others. The artist and her works have also been featured in publications including The New York Times, Boston Globe, Home and Garden, Town and Country, Southern Accents, Newsday, New York Post, New Jersey Star-Ledger, American Artist, International Artist, Artist Magazine and many more.

Ms. Liu has won many awards which include finalist in The Artist Magazine's 23rd Annual Art Competition, finalist in the 2007 American Artist Cover Competition, and numerous awards in the Portrait Society of America Members' Competitions (nearly every year since 2007). She is a signature member of the Portrait Society of America and Artists' Fellowship, Inc. She is represented by seven leading portrait agencies in the U.S. She serves as faculty member at the Annual Conferences of the Portrait Society of America, and has taught at Long Island Academy of Fine Arts and private classes held in her studio. The artist resides in Boston, MA.
